From itsislandtime.com Greater Voice Project Report
Rotarians are extraordinary persons. On a moments notice, Peter McCallister, upcoming TBM Rotary President, and Joe Long, Past President, woke up early to finalize transfer and palletization items for the club’s Rotary Foundation Matching Grant project. Of course, 10 hours of pre-packing boxes, plus hours of transferring boxes and goods was still fun, and certainly interesting!
Working with Rotarian Joanne Travers, director of Partners for A Greater Voice, four lots of goods valued at nearly $10,000 were shipped to CAES, a school for the deaf in San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic. In cooperation with Orlando Vargas, honorary Rotarian from Haverhill, Greater Voice donations, and contributions made by Rotarians, school supplies, office equipment and acoustics panels were shipped in preparation for the May 28-June 4th hearing health and education mission.
Rotarians packed over 40 boxes of materials, plus prepared for shipment larger items, such as donated corkboards, file cabinets, chairs, book shelves and tables. Greater Voice received baseball gear donations and school supplies from the community to add to the project's success.
Seen here in the photo is TBM Rotary's President Elect Peter McCallister, wrapping the final 4x4 pallet during school vacation week. As well, Rotarians Orlando Vargas, Joe Long and Joanne Travers pack up 4x4 pallets.
